Hi Polly,
Thank you for the info. According to the Burke County public records
and land grants, there was a Elisha Chambers who was awarded a land
grand in what was then Burke Co., later became McDowell Co. and then
Haywood County. He had two sons that also were awarded land grants in
Burke County but I don't have the info in front of me. I think one was
John and the other James but please don't hold me to that. I'll have
to look up the info to make sure. In fact I'm not sure if the name was
Elisha or Elijah but it was one or the other. I have heard reference
to Boone County many tims as a destination for some of my family but
didn't have any idea where it came from and where it was located.
I'm not familiar with any of the secondary families you mentioned.
Regards,
Randy

I have several obscure references to Chambers possibly related to the Brayton family of Smithfield, RI. In the 1850 census a Jane Chambers was living in Smithfield with Patience Brayton Ross; in 1867 George E. Willard of Uxbridge, MA (a nephew of Patience Brayton Ross) sold to Thomas Chambers of Providence, RI a portion of the "new" Willard burial plot in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Uxbridge; in 1890 Jane A. Willard of Uxbridge, MA (a niece of Patience Brayton Ross) drew up a will in which she included a bequest to her cousin Thomas P. Chambers of Worcester, MA.
Available vital records do not allow identification of the relationship(s) between the Brayton/Willard family and the Chambers.
Anyone have any ideas?

Looking for adopted boys, Pat and Kim. Born after 1948 and prior to 1955. They were born in California but probably adopted out of Arizona, perhaps Colorado. I know this isn't a lot to go on but I am depending on childhood memories for the details.

I am searching for the families of a soldier with the surname CHAMBERS that were lost in the Korean War. At this time the government has no family contact. At the time he was lost his remains were not recovered. Family DNA is needed to identify remains if and when they are recovered. At the time they entered service they gave their Home of Record as posted below
Soldier: HARVEY CHAMBERS
Born: 1931
Date of loss: March 25, 1953 KIA
Home of Record: Stanislaus County, California
When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. Our government has no family contact for this soldier.
When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (79 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find these families. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.
I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.
