I've looked at this family in the pasta because of so many names that appear in my line. My ggf b1838 SC or TN was James C. I believe he had a sister named Nancy and a brother named William Joseph. MY ggf James C. named some of his childrin, John, Noah (my gf) and Leander (later called Lee Ander). A relative named Moses b abt 1798 SC had girls named Sarah Francis and Sarah, and Francis. Too many names to be coincidence. My ggf James C. listed his father's birthplace as SC and his birthplace as GA except in the later census where he listed TN as his birthplace. According to the Chambers DNA site, I match a Herman Chambers of California whom's family is of Cades Cove, TN. The Cades Cove Chambers also have many names found in my family. I'm just having problems getting past James Clifton. According to one of James C.'s children, we had cousins in Pickens Co. SC and Burke Co. NC.
Any help with James' father and isn't he from TN also??

I've "rescued" an old photograph of David CHAMBERS which was taken at the
Liegel Cooper & Co Studio in Chicago, Illinois. The photograph appears to
have been taken in the 1890's with David likely in his 30's or 40's at the
time it was taken. In addition to his name, someone has written "Grandpa"
and "David Edgerly CHAMBERS" and then after crossing out the middle name
someone wrote "My Grandfather CHAMBERS has no middle name" on the back of
the photograph.
Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information
regarding David and his family:
David CHAMBERS b. 5 May 1855 in McConnelsville, OH to parents Samuel Glass
CHAMBERS (b. 21 Nov 1810 in Zanesville, OH) and Louisa ADAMS (b. in Fauquier
Co. VA). David married Anna SUNDERLAND in 1880 in Ottumwa, IA and together
they had 6 children including, Mary Louisa; Samuel Sunderland; David Albert;
Paul; Ruth Anna; and Fred Edward CHAMBERS. David died in Portland, OR on 7
May 1923.
Census records provide the following information:
1900 census of Chicago, IL:
David CHAMBERS, age 45, born May 1855, married 19 years, born OH, parents
born OH/VA
Anne CHAMBERS, wife, age 41, born Nov 1858, married 19 years, 6 children/5
living, born IA, parents born England/MA
Mary CHAMBERS, dau, age 19, born Mar 1881, born IA, at School
Samuel CHAMBERS, son, age 16, born Jul 1883, born IA, at School
Albert CHAMBERS, son, age 14, born Feb 1886, born IA, at School
Fred CHAMBERS, son, age 6, born Aug 1893, born IL, at School
Ruth CHAMBERS, dau, age 1, born Nov 1898, born IL
John CHAMBERS, nephew, age 24, born Nov 1875, born IA, a Machinist
Ethel MURPHY, niece, age 24, born Jul 1875, born IA, at School
1920 census of Portland, OR:
David CHAMBERS, age 64, born OH, parents born VA/OH, an Optometrist
Ana CHAMBERS, wife, age 61, born IA, parents born England/MA
Fred E. CHAMBERS, son, age 26, born IL, an Optician
Ruth CHAMBERS, dau, age 20, born IL
I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that the photograph can be
returned to their care. If you are a member of this family, or you know
someone who might be, please contact me.
Thanks,
Shelley
