DNA can be an affective resource to researching our ancestry. However, what are the benefets, thus far, of those who have spent $103 for the Y-DNA test?
Asking people shell out $103.00 for a test that they see no benefit will provide a failed program.
Also, for those on a fixed income, $103.00 can mean the difference between receiving (or not) of one's medications for the month (or putting food on the table). Are there any programs or sponsors to help defer the cost?

I believe the best tool we have as Chambers is the Chambers DNA project. You can find out information about submitting your DNA at:
http://freepages.family.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~crrking/Chambers/chambers_...
The procedure is very simple, take a swab sent to you and swab the inside of your cheek for about a couple minutes, then place the swab into the glass jar and send it in. Simple and relatively inexpensive. You must have a male descendent to trace the Chambers Line. The more Chambers
we have participating the best the results. It would allow everyone to focus their search on specific lineage and areas. Consider it, only $99 plus postage. Send Charlene a family line so others can connect with you. Please consider the Chambers DNA project.

Have you been able to link these chambers with those that lived in Cades Cove, Tn or Habersham County, Ga. The name pattern is very close. Also know that some of my family lived in Burke Co. NC which later became McDowell and then Haywood County. I also know that some of the Chambers left Burke Co. and relocated into Ky (some of those relocated to Cades Cove) and probably some went on into the midwest.
The Chambers DNA project would be very helpful in sorting out some of the relocations.

I've thrown this out to this forum before a while back, and I'm hoping someone may have "new" information related to this individual, who was my great-uncle on my mother's side.
Paul Curling Chambers was born in Ironton, Trigg County, Kentucky on 05 Jun 1887. Due to family issues he "ran off" from the family sometime in the early 1920s, leaving the Western Kentucky / Souteast Missouri area for (supposedly) Texas.
He may have changed his name when he migrated to Texas, or used a nickname, but I've never been able to locate any reference to him from the time he left Kentucky.
His father was William Henry Chambers (Apr 1863 to 06 Sep 1907 in Golden Pond or Trigg County Kentucky).
He was married to Eva/Evie Monico Joyce (22 Dec 1892 to 24 Mar 1922 in Kentucky). He "ran off" from his family sometime after her death.
He had five children with Eva/Evie:
Almeda Chambers
Martin A. Chambers
Myrtle May Chambers
Lela Pauline Chambers
Charles Henry Chambers
He also had brothers, all born in Western Kentucky:
William Harrison Chambers
Oliver A "RT" Chambers
Ernest Jent Chambers
Benjamin Franklin Chambers
Freeman Chambers
Lee Swinford
Plano, TX
