I have a Web-TV unit, not a computer, every thing I do must be in a
long way.
I'm elderly and have never up-graded to a computer, although, I wish
that I had.
My information comes from my paternal grandmother and 2 Chambers
cousins. One in Oregon, the other in the DC area.
My home town is Selma, Dallas County, AL Some Chambers settled in
Dallas and Perry Counties, AL
Here is what I have on my Chambers line.
Henry Chambers, b. July 13,1708, possibly in Northern Ireland, appears
to be my immigrant ancestor. It is said he was Scotch-Irish. His
wife was Jennet Eliot, b. about 1715 in Ireland. They are in Lancaster
County, PA between 1732-1742. About 1752, they moved on to NC,
settling in Rowan County. Henry and Jenet are said to have been buried
in the Fourth Creek Memorial Burying Ground. They had several
children, including Robert Chambers, b. Nov. 14, 1742 in PA.
Robert Chambers married 3 times.{1} Jane Beatty/Batey, [2] Lettice Boyd
[3]
Sarah Tripp. Robert and Lettice lived in Rowan County, NC until 1785,
when they moved to GA, Hancock County, there is some record of him being
in Wilkes County, GA. He may have rec'd some bounty land for serving in
the Salisbury Militia from Rowan County.
Lettice died in GA about 1799. Robert died Oct. 3, 1814. Robert's
children with Jane Batey were Henry, James and Jane. With Lettice:
Joseph Boyd, David, Anne, Robert Boyd, John, Sarah and Maxwell..

Bishop, in 1798, He served as a general with the Georgia Militia in
the War of 1812 He was a colorful character, quite well to-do, with
several plantations in Perry County.

I am looking for an Aaron Chambers, born in NC somewhere between 1800 and
1805, wife Mary. In 1840 they were in Henry Co. IN, probably in Fayette
Co, KY in 1830. The 1840 census in IN says that he is between 30 and 40
yo. That would put him between 1800 and 1810 for a birth date. He had a
son, Aaron G. Chambers in NC in 1825. So I would guess a birthdate for
the elder Chambers to be before 1805 but after 1800, due to the age
column marked for him in Henry Co. IN.
Thank you,
Clark
Hi,
There is an Adam on the Chambers DNA list from Newberry. The address
is:
http://freepages.family.rootsweb.com/~crrking/Chambers/chambers_dnar.htm
The name Alexander appears in some of my lines but have not been able
to make a link and I'm not linked to the Newberry Chambers
according to my DNA results.

Does someone recognize this family? It has soe good indications of being
related to some the Chambers in my family.
This info is taken from the 1850 census of Sangamon co, IL
Mary Chambers, age 57, born North Carolina
Jeremiah,age 20, born Indiana
Edmond or Edward, age 18, IN
James, age 14, IN
Wm. age 10, IN
Sarah?, age 9, IN
Louisa, age 4, IN
Hi Everyone,
With the recent discussion about the Chambers DNA group, I thought I would
post a call out to anyone descended from Chambers/Chalmers families of
Newberry Co., SC.
We are looking for a direct male descendent of William or Alexander
Chalmers/Chambers (or any other Chalmers male) of Newberry Co., SC who would
be willing to take the Y-DNA test. Alexander Chalmers/Chambers left a will
in 1795 in Newberry. William may have died previous to that. I believe both
men were from Ireland or Scotland. Alexander had a grandson living in
Ireland years after Alex's death. This grandson (named Adam) eventually came
to the US.
I am a descendent of an earlier Adam Chalmers/Chambers of Newberry Co. who
died in 1801. I suspect that he was related to William and Alexander but
have found no proof. We are hoping that a descendent of Alex or Will would
take the test.
My cousin (also a descendent of Adam) has taken the Y-DNA test. We have
waited patiently for a couple of years but have had no matches with any
other Chambers testers.
Sincerely,
Catherine

Stan,
Are you related to James A. Chambers of Habersham County. His grandson
Marvin, according to his son Lanier, came to the
Iva, SC area in the 1920's to help on the farms. Lanier's sister,
Louise, was born in Iva, SC in 1925. The only Chambers in the
area during that time were the children/grandchildren of my ggf James
C. Chambers. Some other Chambers from around Haywood
and Buncombe Co NC also moved into the area. I have a GED on James A.,
if that may be helpful.
