All I have on Aunt Minnie is a Picture, no information.
I don't know much about our Chambers or the Hudlow's.
Grandma Hudlow had a trunk with a bible, pictures and I don't know what else and the one cousin was burning it, cousin Shirley went to visit him when he was doing this and saved some of the pictures and the Bible. Grandma was from around Leflore Co OK. I cannot find them in the 1900 census.

You might also try going to the "counties" section of the message board. Go to Texas, then Grayson County. Look under "cemetaries" for a link. My GR Uncle is also buried there. I'll try to get the info and send for an address.

I googled and found the Chambers book has been transcribed and is
available online.
Just go to the following URL address, and there is a link at the
bottom of the page.
http://familytreemaker*genealogy*com/useres/s/t/r/Sheila-Strunk/
You will need to replace the two "*" with "." to make the URL work.

If you could send me a copy some time I would be grateful - I spent yesterday scouring the world + found quite a few books with more or less the same name most of which are out of print - I thought I had struck lucky with eBay but the seller looked thro that + found no mention of my gent - I'm thinking that if he's buried in Sherman it may well be that 1 of his children was there. I know he was in the US just for the year of 1888 + of 1891 + then retired to the US in 1895/6 - I can't find him at Ellis Island tho
Many thanks - Suzanne

Thanks for the name correction. Would you know if Ahijah Chambers had children who may have moved to Quincy,IL ? I'm searching for living descendants of Earl Chambers who married Wauhneeta Sweet 1914 Quincy,Adams,IL.
Since Wauhneeta's SWEET family were from Augusta it would seem highly possible Ahijah's Chambers would connect.
Thanks,

No problem, if you can't/don't find it, I'll try to get by the library here and will copy it and send it to you.

Dear Pat,
Some folks are just plain ungrateful. You offered us this book, free and no
hassle, and I think it was very nice of you to do so. In genealogy, I've met
some really great people and just a couple of toads.
It shows your strength of character that you take no offence to these
unwarranted emails.
Thanks again,
Nancy

NOTE: I have neither recommended this book or made any comment on the
accuracy or myth,s contents. Someone inquired on this list about the book and as I
have had it for several years I was glad to send it out. I am not an expert on
the Chambers line, as I am like most of you seeking information in every
nook and corner. The info I found I either prove or disprove for myself.
I have not worked on this book as much as I should but I have lots of books
that have some good and some bad.
Being 79 years old and having done research on my many family lineages, I
know enough to prove my facts.
I don't mean this to be rude or disagreeable but just wanted to verify my
position.

many years ago and discovered that it is either incorrect or misleading or
just plain Myth.
"Please don't try to use it for any geneaogical purposes as it cannot be
proven."
The above E Mail that was sent to me will explain why I am sending this
message. And as I have lived all my life with the motto, "Buyers Beware" I use it
in all my research.
I took no offense to this E Mail but wanted all to know that I have never
recommended tor stated that this book is the gospel.
End of explanation.

any info on van everett chambers and viola fay sneed.
I really don't know a whole lot about those names but they do show up in Missouri. I have been trying to identify if they are related to my Chambers, that is why I reconized those names. Here are the same names in the Missouri census for 1840 and 1850.
Elijah Chambers Watkins Crawford MO abt 1790-1800 1840 Elisha Chambers District 1 Adair MO abt 1779 North Carolina 1850 Elisha Chambers Pettis Macon MO abt 1770-1780 1840 Elizah Chambers Not Stated Madison MO abt 1796 North Carolina 1850 James Chambers Blue Jackson MO abt 1797 North Carolina 1850 James Chambers Not Stated Jackson MO abt 1790-1800 1840
Here is the the names of the other men living in Adair with Elisha:
Name Town Home County Home State Estimated Birth Year Birth Place Census Elisha Chambers District 1 Adair MO abt 1779 North Carolina 1850 Elisha Chambers District 1 Adair MO abt 1848 Missouri 1850 Gideon Chambers District 1 Adair MO abt 1816 Tennessee 1850 Jackson Chambers District 1 Adair MO abt 1815 Tennessee 1850 Jeremiah Chambers District 1 Adair MO abt 1840 Missouri 1850 William Chambers District 1 Adair MO abt 1842 Missouri 1850
Here are the names of the other men living in Madison:
Name Town Home County Home State Estimated Birth Year Birth Place Census Elizah Chambers Not Stated Madison MO abt 1838 Tennessee 1850 Elizah Chambers Not Stated Madison MO abt 1796 North Carolina 1850
Here are the other names living in Jackson with James:
James Chambers Blue Jackson MO abt 1797 North Carolina 1850 James Chambers Not Stated Jackson MO abt 1790-1800 1840 Joseph Chambers Blue Jackson MO abt 1837 Missouri 1850
From looking at this data, it looks like they moved from NC to TN to Missouri.
I do notice that you state 'Elijah Chambers was dismissed by letter in 1796' and I show an Elijah being born in about 1796 though. Could he have been dismissed as a baby?
I hope this helps tie some ancestors together.

Hi,
1. First I have a question, does anyone have any idea what the relationship is between the Elijah Chambers who we have been discussing and Elisha Chambers? I think they might be brothers because they married sisters.
2. Does anyone know who the children of each were?
3. Now, in my Morphew book, I have quite a bit of information on the Three Forks Baptist Association. There were several persons with the Chambers name that some of you might recognize. This association was east of the Blue Ridge and consisted of King's Creek Church in Caldwell and Beaver Creek in Wilke's County... and then Lewis Fork in Wilkes and Old Field's Church in Ashe County... it was constituted by the Yadkin Baptist Association... North Carolina. Many names amongst the membership are familiar to the Boone pioneer family.
These members were listed amongst the Chambers surname folks:
1790-1800 in order their names came on the books:
JAMES CHAMBERS
ANNA CHAMBERS
ELIJAH CHAMBERS
MARTHA CHAMBERS
NANCY CHAMBERS
ELISHA CHAMBERS
HENRY CHAMBERS
ASA CHAMBERS
MARGARET CHAMBERS
additional information says that Elijah Chambers was dismissed by letter in 1796. Now, I am a Baptist so being dismissed by letter might not mean that he was kicked out of the church. Often when a member moves on to another church, they change their letter of membership to the new church.
In May, 1807 Henry Chambers was aquitted of not paying a just debt.
The last Saturday of April, 1792, James Chambers was approved for the ministry and in 1793, he was one of a few delegates sent to the assembly at Eaton's Meeting House near Daniel Boone's old home.
In 1800, Elisha Chambers was elected to be a singing clerk. (Go Elisha!! I LOVE Southern gospel)
*From the History of Watauga County, NC
Can anyone connect these Chambers up to a family tree? I feel like for 10 years of research, I have had all this information all the time. I just never paid any attention to it because it was all part of other family lines. A big lesson for me. Always make sure you get entire family group names.... you never know where your brick wall may be hiding.
Love to you all and happy researching... just remember to share what you find with the rest of us. That is what our groups are all about...

My Elisha Chambers info is as follows:
James Chambers and Nancy Windsor, married bef. 1780, presumably.
Son, Elisha, b 11 Mar 1780 in Maryland. Died 13 Mar 1860 in Benton Co. Arkansas.
Married Nancy Moore (dau of Jesse Moore and Allie Johnson). Nancy was b 25 Dec 1786 in Burke Co. NC. She died 27 Aug 1856 in Benton Co AR.
Their children:
Polly, born abt 1812; married Unknown Estes.
Jesse M.
Asa
Elijah
Harriett Matilda
John Johnson
Abby Jonston (spelling is the way I found it)
James Monroe (my direct ancestor - 2nd greatgrandfather)
He married Sarah Jane Unknown (a brick wall for me). She was born in Tennessee in 1832. They were married in Benton Co., probably at the Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church, which is still in existence.
I have some further information on the marriages & some children of the above siblings. If anyone is interested, please let me know. Also, if you know Sarah Jane's last name.
Three lines of my family were all in Benton County since apx the 1830's - the other two names are Dickson and Woods. They all came from Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina. Somewhere in my notes (referring to Polly's Boone connection) is some undocumented information that the Woods family had some either marriages with some Boones or were neighbors or friends of Daniel. Don't know where my notes are concerning that & may be just a family story.,
