There are records avalible for this surname/location if anyone would like to view them or if anyone has any documents to submits for others.
The more people who donate what they have, the better the odds are of finding a record you need for FREE.

Hugh Chambers
Hugh L. Chambers, 78, a North Portland resident and 25- year veteran of the merchant marines, died Thursday in a Portland hospital.
Mr. Chambers was born in Cathlamet, Wash., amd lived for a time in St. Helens before moving to Portland in his early years. He was a member of the National Maritime Union.
He is survived by two daughters, Rebel Clarke and Vicki Lesollen, both of Portland; two sisters, Hazel Clause, Portland, and Grace Sonneland, St. Helens; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Riverview Abbey Funeral Home. Vault entombment will be private. The family suggests remembrances be contributions to the Oregon Lung Asoociation.

Unfortunately, all we know comes from old family papers, no research to support them other than evidence of being in Nova Svotia through Census information. Our John Chambers is supposed to have come to N.S. from England, his wife, Margaret Armstrong, from either England or Scotland. Sorry I could not be more help.

I was wondering, do you know if John came alone or with a brother? We have a family Story that my 3xs great grandfather may have come here from Scotland, (possibly) thru England. His name was Edward? I've been hunting the Canadian relation. Edward went to Baltimore and his brother to CA. I do not have the brothers name.
I would like to add a note to the Rev War Pension Records. I don't know if
you are aware of it, but there are microfilm available of the Rev War of men
who DID NOT RECEIVE a pension. Just because a man (or woman) did not receive a
pension does not mean there was not paper work involved on that person.
Most of us know that the main reason is bc the person took land for payment
for services instead of a pension. Also, there were other factors.
Call your research library and ask if they know about these records.

I know that Sarah Chambers is the daughter of Hiram Chambers (born abt. 1810) and Nancy Jernigan (born 1809 Tenn). They also had other children, one of whom is Andrew (born abt. 1838). I have no info on this Andrew or any other of Hiram and Nancy's children. Is your Andrew from this marriage? If so, there's lots of Jernigan/Chambers info on the web.

Accodring to a couple of early William's Directories, Andrew for a while also ran/owned "Andrew Kleems First and Last Chance Boarding House and Saloon" on River Road, likely in the Sedamsville area where his daughter Martha met/married Joseph Bernard Zeiser in 1883. The Kleem-Zeiser marriage is my connection to the family.

Andrew had two sisters, Magdalena Martini and Mary Henly Emge as well as his mother in Cincinnati. Andrew's other sister, Elizabeth Commens, lived in the Evansville area. The were also several other related Emges who left Cincinnati and went to Indiana, some in the Evansville area. Andrew served in an Indiana regiment during the war so I'm guessing that he was in Indiana atr the start of the war or we would have enlisted in an Ohio regiment. But at least two of his sisters were in Ohio between 1850 and 1860 because Mary married Henry Emge in 1851 and Magdalene married Philip Martini in 1859. I don't recall having ever found any of the Kleems in a census prior to 1880 but they must have been in the Ohio area if the later census birth states are correct. Has anyone ever found an earlier census? Andrew must have been in Indiana arount 1870 since pension papers list his movements after the war , children report being born in Indiana and, if I remember correctly, some of his firs!
t children were buried in Indiana and later moved to Old St. Joseph's in Cincy where he is buried.

Hello!
I was wondering if anyone had a copy of the Revolutionary War pension application of John Chambers who died in Carroll Co., TN in the 1840s. I believe that he was born in Halifax Co., VA in the 1750s and may have served from Richmond or Montgomery Co., NC. If anyone has a copy and would be willing to provide me with data from it, I'd be very grateful.
Many thanks!
John Smallwood

I have been researching the long lost Chambers side of my family. The fatherest back I have been able to go so far is My gr gr grandfather, Silas Luster Chambers (b 1844, d 1871). All I know about him is that he was the 2nd husband of Matilda laughlin (b 1841, d 1909) and they had 2 children Joseph Mart Chambers (b 1867, d 1948), my gr grandfather, and Elizabeth (Etta) Chambers Hartman Sinclair ( b 1870, d 1921). My Silas Luster Chambers was born in Indiana. Maybe Davies County. Is there a connection to your Silas Luster Chambers?
