Vickers Limited - 1914-18
I used to work in the River Don Foundry and later, the Electric Melting Shop. In my time there the company was called BSC River Don and then Sheffield Forgemasters. I left school and became an apprentice Moulder, I then moved to the Melting Shop, where I worked on the pit side producing ingots. I was made redundant in 1987. My time at this works inspired a new line of research. The company was called Vickers Limited when the great war was fought. The men listed worked for this company and died in service during world war one.
The result of this research can be found on my website
http://www.stannington.webitsmart.co.uk
There is information about the Chambers family in the ‘Vickers Steelworks’ section
Please feel free to check it out.
If anybody can give me more information it would be great
Regards, Robert.
PS this research is in its infancy so please check the site regularly for new updates

Mary Jane ferguson was born scotland. it's said patrick gannon had 13 or 14 children, he moved his family to the united states, but I'm not sure when that was. patrick was born march 17th, 1861, at carracastle ireland. 4 of his sons were Thomas John, michael, patrick, and peter.I believe they started out in mayo county.this coming friday july 16, my mom aunt and uncle, and myself will be flying to ireland for about 6 days, and we will be looking up our family roots. let me know, if any of this is familiar to you.

Hi Patricia, thanks for your message. I think we are on the same page. I have estate administration papers for Robert Chambers of Little Britain Twp., Lancaster Co. PA (April 1815)which lists the following children: Margaret intermarried with Barnabas Annam, Margaret intermarried with Samuel Cassidy, Isabella, Alexander, John, James, Samuel, Olivia and Catherine. From another researcher I have Olivia's husband as John McMickel, but I have not verified this. Let me know if this is your line ... Sara

We now know they came to New York city in 1841. Her husband was William, who died allegedly at Pittsburg, PA a few weeks after he arrived. Isabella brought her children to Knox Co, Ohio where she lived til her death. Also know that Isabella had maiden name Beatty and came from County Fremenagh, Ireland but her ship to the U.S. left from Liverpool, England. We know less about her husband - he may have been English rather than Irish. - Allan Griffith, Bloomington, IL
