Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

Thelma Theresa McClenen Chambers entered eternal rest on Saturday, November 27, 2004. She was born on October 14, 1929 in Rideau, Louisiana to beade and Joyce McClenen, their only child to survive. Thelma attended Immaculate Conception in LeBeau, Louisiana and Palmetto High School in Palmetto, Louisiana. She attended nursing school at North Harris County College and was employed at Yale Hospital as part of the nursing staff for over forty years.
On September 5, 1953 she married Everette Chambers. To this union, three children were born, two daughters and one son.
Thelma was a dedicated daughter and devoted wife and mother. She loved her children and all children. The nursing profession was truly her special calling. Her genuine concern and care for her patients was evident in the compassion she always showed in her work.
Thelma was preceded in death by her brother, Kirby, who died in infancy, and her parents. She leaves to mourn, her husband of 51 years Everette Chambers, two daughters Shirl Columbus of Houston and Brenda Griggs of Oklahoma City and son Dwayne Chambers of Seattle; one son-in-law Johnny Griggs; three grandchildren, Brandon Columbus, Rachael Columbus and Courtney McVea; grandaughter-in-law Jessica Columbus, three great-granddaughters, Gabriella Tennon, Alexis Tennon and Jordan Claire Columbus and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be Tue., Nov. 30, 2004. Rosary will begin at 9:30 AM. The funeral mass will begin at 10:00 AM at St. Monica Catholic Church with Father Neal Stull officiating. Interment at Houston National Cemetery.

I'm searching for the parents of Jane Chambers who married Abner Holt April 17, 1811 Halifax Co VA. Abner Holt's parents were Timothy Holt & Elizabeth Chambers d/o John & Jennet Chambers.

John Ross's home is still standing in Chattanooga. It is a historic site at the foot of Missionary Ridge and is surrounded by buildings close by. Too bad they didn't save some land with it. I'm still not sure if I am related or not, but hope to be.
