Sad story indeed! Tell me about the McGlothin lineage or where I can find that information.
DO you have dates for Carlos and Mary? I would also be interested in their children.
Thanks, Lori

Hi Lori, yes I remember you well. So glad to hear from you again and, hope you and yours are doing well. You ask me if Carlos was their only child. In answer to that I can say that my grandfather was 2 years old in the 1990 census and with his father. I think you will know this. In the 1910 census it shows him as a boarder at the age of 12 with Samuel Foyely. I have found on the McGlothin Lineage a child born to Reese and Elizabeth, April of the same year as my grandfather and with the name Carola. It also states this was a female. I will try to explain a little better my meaning behind the statement I made about my grandfather passing without his name, family etc. I as a child was led to believe my grandfather was a very mean man. My father didn't know much to tell only what was told to him. My grandmother would never speak of him and, the only thing my father knew was what she had told him. I have since found out that most of the things she told was simply not so. My grand!
mother told that after being discharged from the war, my grandfather was put in a veterans hospital. My father always wondered where he was and, why he never did get to see him. My grandmother for some reason did not tell the truth about this. My father came from a large family of brothers and sisters. He is next to the youngest of eight children. When my grandfather returned from the war, I don't know everything that happen but, I do know that he and my grandmother were not together. My grandmother had many husbands. I have been told wonderful things about my grandfather but. He did serve in the war and was not sent to a veterans hospital after he got out for being hurt as my grandmother told. He wanted to see and be with his family after the war but, no one knew this until I found out all that I have. My father was born in May 1932. He had wondered where his father was at the time of his birth and this is what started me on my venture. In April, 1941 my grandfather was pla!
ced in a veterans hospital for the insane. It would appear by all that I know to be true he was put away never to be released because he had a loss of memory. I know by conversations with what would be my deceased oldest uncle all my grandfather wanted was to be with his family. Lori there are so many conflicting reports on my grandfather. It is my belief that there are many people who ignored his very existence.

Carlos born May 10, 1898 was my grandfather. I have searched for several years to learn more of this man and, the more I find out the sadder I become. I realize there are a lot of sad stories out there so I am sure there will be many to understand why this one would break my heart in such a way. My grandfather, from the day he was born until the day he died, April 15, 1968, fought to be a part of something and someone. He died without his name, family or any kind of life. If there is anyone that would like to share some information or has any about Elizabeth (Rebecca) as my grandfather called her, I would greatly appreciate it.

Dear Pat, I don't think we are a match. Although I think I've seen your postings before with a different e-address from Auburn? You seemed to have so much information I wanted us to be cousins , but since that posting I 've learned a lot. My grandpa Robert Henry Chambers was the son of Thomas Jefferson Chambers from Perry Co AL, his father was Wm. Griggs Chambers of Hancock Co Ga, son of Robert Boyd Chambers of Wilks Co GA, son of Robert Chambers of Lancaster Co.PA, he was the son of Henry Chambers who came from Antrim Co. N.Ire. and his father was James or Alexander Chambers of Scotland. There seem to be thousands of people descended from this line, each generation had ten or so children, so we might be related after all. Good hunting!

John Leander isn't familiar to me but there's probably a connection. My Chambers ancestors cames from Scott Co, MS, to Johnson Co., TX, in about 1854. In 1870 my ggg-grandmother, Sarah Chambers, and some of her children, were living in Kaufman Co. (Her daughter, Emma Christian Rebecca, married James Franklin Hendricks in Kaufman Co., in 1869.)
At least two Chambers families left Scott Co. and went to Texas in the 1850s--John and his wife, Sarah Wilson, were in TX--Navarro Co., I believe, before the Civil War. Their sons, Wilson and William were killed. Son, Asa, survived.
My ancestor, Silas, and his wife, Sarah, came in 1853 (based on information from Emma C.R.'s Confederate Veterans Widow's pension application) to Texas. She and her children were in Johnson County in 1860. The family bible of a descendent records that Silas died in 1858.
John and Silas were the sons of Josiah Chambers whose estate was probated in early 1828 in Rankin co., MS. His sons were William, Silas, Robert Powell, John, Henry, Asa and James J. Josiah's brother, Henry, also lived in the area and had at least one son, William.

Look for the children and grandchildren of Josiah Chambers whose will was probated in Rankin Co in early 1828. I have, in storage, copies of his estate records. His sons were William, Silas, Robert Powell, John, Henry, Asa and James J. Robert Powell and his descendents may be your people as they stayed in the area.
Josiah's brother, Henry, was also in the area and died about 1841, I believe. He had at least one son, William, whose family also remained in the locale.
Josiah was born about1760 in Virginia, married Christian Robinson before 1800. They moved south into the NC/SC border region and then through TN, into what is now AL when it was still MIssissippi Territory. I have (in storage!) copies of tax records for 1814-1817 in what is now AL. From there they moved west into the part of MS that is the state of MS. At least four sons, William, Robert Powell, John and Henry, married in Washington Co., AL., between 1826 and 1830.
I am descended from Josiah through his son, Silas, who was my ggg-grandfather.
