George, Is this the John S. Chambers married to Martha Wilson? If so, do you know who his father was? My family have been stopped for years because we never could find his father. Since first son is George Thomas, I always guessed his father either George or Thomas and hers the other. Anxious to hear from you. Nancy Chambers Lindley

January 11th, 1862, he was married to Miss Ann Etchels, who shared with him the joy, and toil and sorrow of life for 40 years and who survives him. He enlisted Nov. 15, 1861, in Co. F. 3d Wis., Cav. I was delighted to find out that you are a relative, Mr D Roughley (my grandmother was a Chambers and her great-great-grandfather was George Chambers, who was a son of Mary Gayler and George Chambers). With the name Gayler appearing 3 times after Gayler Chambers b.1855 and his nephew being called Gayler I assume that your Edward Gayler must be one of Gayler's sons. I have another "cousin" who is, if we are correct in this assumption, 1 step closer to you than me.
Her name is Mrs Main and her e-mail is
main(a)canada.com - she is Gayler's great-granddaughter.
I have Sarah Gayler's christening record of 1815 and Margaret and I have more information. She knows another "Chambers" cousin who is in England.
An interesting fact is that Gayler, a liscensed victualler for The Running Horse in Sunbury was married in 1881 to Emily Hewitt and had Stella, Sidney, Thomas H and Harry thereafter. I wonder if he had already had Edward Gayler Chambers or if one of Sarah Gayler's other descendants had him.
P.S. sorry for using a fake name to reply to my original message.
Please send to my own address your e-mail address
With congratulations, cousin!
from Adam
