Barb or Nancy,
I am VERY interested in the Joseph Hezekiah Chambers in your tree.
I have a Joseph H. Chambers who was born in IA about 1874. The 1930 census shows his father being born in OH and mother in KY and his wife already died. I dont know who he married but his daughter is Lana Mae Chambers. She married Leonard Howard Calvert and they had Joseph Howard Calvert, Levi M. Calvert, Leonard C. Calvert, Clinton Warren Calvert, Richard E. Calvert, Glenn W. Calvert, and Wallis R. Calvert. All of these boys were born in NE besides Joseph Howard, he was born in Rippey, Greene Co, IA. Does this sound right? Thanks! Amy

If you just go to : Genealogy.Com and search for my name
( Deborah Chambers-Blair ) it should take you to my site. I don't have any pictures of Charles, only pictures of my grandparents and a copy of Charles' & Melissas' marriage certificate. I tried to put the certificate on my site but, I had to scan it in 2 parts. I'll work on making it one picture and get it on my site so you can download it. Your family & your mom are more than welcome to come to the reunion. Do you live in Michigan?

Thanks for the information, I have e-mailed my mother and told her of the news. I was thinking about your relationship with my mom and you are second cousins. She will be 79 on August 17, her oldest sister, Lu Sanders died last year and the middle sister Gladys Baase died last month. According to my mom she also had a brother named Carl but because they were all split up when they were young no one knows for sure what happened to him. I will look at the site and hope to hear from you soon.

John Chambers was killed in a buggy accident. His widow, Rachel Pennock, remarried William McConnell. They had children together, including Phebe Edna, my gg-grandmother. I have lots on the McConnell family and tons of pics of the Chambers family (many of whom ended up in San Francisco, CA). Pusey Chambers was a very handsome and well-dressed man!

Jimmy, I have several sites w/info on them - one is mine and the other is from Livingston County - I will send them to you - It's easier that way. From my site you can get most of the info you may be looking for about Samuel's children and some pictures. I have one of him (Grandpa ) w/a cousin & one of his 1st. wife ( All the kids' mother) and most of the kids are pictured there as well. Take a look and see if there's a resemblence. I'm told ALL REAL (?) Chambers' look the same!! We will be having a family reunion in Aug. so hope to get more info then. I don't know if he ( Grandpa ) has any siblings left and have found it VERY difficult to find any info at all on them. I just lucked out on finding the Livingston County site. An aunt ( wife of one of Samuels' kids ) was doing a family search; found out they were horse thiefs at one time and my uncle made her quit. I am now in the process of trying to find out where those papers she done might be. I have also found where Meli!
ssa might have been born in Canada but have to look through all my notes to find the webpage again. I have to go for now but, take a look at those sites. Deb

Deb,
After reading the last note from you it seems that we are definitely related. My grandmother was Mable Chambers, born in1903. I have recorded 7 other siblings with Samuel being the oldest in 1894 and Goldie being the youngest born in 1920. This is very exciting news as my mother is the last of Mable's children. My mother's name is Anna and is going to be 79 years old on August 17. Do you know if Goldie might still be alive or where other offspring might be and how I could reach them? Looking forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Jimmy

Minor/Miner Chambers was born ca. 1797 in Pennsylvania, according to the 1850 census for Indiana, Switzerland County, Cotton Township (Roll 174, p. 378). His wife was shown as being born in NY, and all the children in "Ia" (Indiana).
His granddaughter Eva Kane, who was born ca. 1856, wrote that her grandfather "was born in Canada not far from Niagra Falls."
William D. Chambers (see below) wrote that "As a man by the name of Minor Chambers was born in Canada, then came with others of his family to Switzerland County, it would seem that one historian or the other must be wrong."
In a letter to William D. Chambers, William L. Chambers, author of the 1925 book Trails of the Centuries, stated, "Minor Chambers (my great-grandfather), was born in Germany. When a young man he went to Canada, then to Switzerland County, Indiana, where he died (date unknown)."
Eva Kane (identified above) wrote that Minor died in "Kerokirk" (Keokuk) (County), Iowa.
Anyone wanting a biography I've compiled on Miner is welcome to contact me directly. I'll forward it as an attachment to an e-mail to you. I've also prepared a biography of his (unknown named) father, and his son David Lee Chambers, if anyone is interested.
