I just got back from a tremendous few days. My grandfather, Earl
Chambers Storm, my father, and myself went to Kentucky to visit
relatives and to see where my grandfather grew up. We live in NorthWest
Illinois. He is from Chambers and Hawesville, KY. We visited many
cousins of my father who live in Owensboro as well as some still living
sister-in-laws of my grandfather. We also went to Hawesville to see
some more sister-in-laws, cousins, etc. We also went to see Henry
Bruner (he and his son Harlan do a lot of Bruner genealogy, which I'm
sure many of you know) and that was a great visit. He is one my
grandfather usually drops in on when he is there. While there, we went
through Hawesville, Blackford Creek, Mount Eden cemeteries and I got to
do a few minutes of nosing around in the archives of the Old Hancock Co.
courthouse where my grandfather's grandfather John James Storm was a
judge in the 1800's. Our visit to Chambers (what is left of where
Chambers, KY was) seemed like a time machine visit. I saw the house
where my grandfather was born, land where homes were that he once lived
in with still standing barns, where the store and post office were,
places where he used to walk or drive teams of horses, etc. I could
picture the people 50, 100, and 150 years ago. It was amazing. We also
shot across the river to Cannelton, IN to see yet a couple of more Storm
relation and to Tell City to meet in person a new friend and probable
relative who is also researching the Chamber name. It was a tremendous
few days and I look forward to going back when I will have time to do
some research. I had never been there before. My father had not been
there in 20 years. My grandfather goes a couple of times every few
years but really isn't into genealogy. He just likes to visit with
family and friends there.
- Just wanted to pass this on. It really fueled my genealogy fire
(which was already burning fairly strong!) If this is something that
you have never done and can do, I strongly encourage you to arrange a
trip with your parent, grandparent, etc. and go to where they grew up.
The stories you hear from them and people you meet are priceless! The
time spent with my father and grandfather just talking, eating, and etc.
was even moreso!

Hello Richard & other Chambers researchers,
You posted a query regarding the several Chambers families found in the
district of Natchez, MS, between 1768 and 1816. One of the men whom you
mention would be my ancestor, I believe, but I do not know which one as of
yet. My ggg-gf was William P. Chambers, born in MS on 18 July 1806, and I
believe that his father was the Isaac Chambers found in 1816 and 1820
Wilkinson Co., who apparently died between 1823 and 1825.
I dont know about the four earlier Chambers men found between 1768 and 1792,
but I believe that most of the Chambers whom you mention between 1810 and
1816 - Jacob, Sr & Jr, Isaac, John, and Israel - were related and were the
same men found in the 1790 census of the Claremont District of SC and in the
1800 census of Kershaw District, SC. I have not been able to find the earlier
origin of these families as of yet, but one source says that Jacob Chambers,
Sr, was born in the Darlington District about 1760.
You ask about Israel Chambers, in particular, and my information is that he
was born in 1780 and was the eldest son of Jacob Chambers, Sr, by an unknown
first wife. Israel married wife Mary (unknown) in Louisiana in 1804, and I
believe that I have information on some of their children in my written
records not yet entered into the computer for easy access. Let me know a
little more about your interests, and I will see what more I can find. Good
to find someone else with an interest in the Chambers of south MS and north
LA. Regards, Ron Bullock
Hi, all.
Well, since this group has picked up a bit, I'll again ask my original
question. I am only aware of 1 Chambers ancestor. I am doing this for my
husband. His g-grandmother was a Chambers. Once I find out who she is,
many doors will be open for me. Her name was Adelaide(?)Chambers. She
married Ralph Randolph Little & they had eleven children. Ralph was a
methodist minister in Monroe Co. WV.
One of their children, Haven Little shot & killed his wife's family. From
what I understand, they were making wiskey & drinking it & one of his inlaws
supposedly said something to make him angry. He killed 3-6 of them & then
killed himself. He shot his wife, Ellie Cole, but she played dead & he
didn't try to shoot her again. She survived.
According to 2 of my husband's aunts in WV, a Dr. Chambers from Cole Co. WV
went insane in the 1930's. Somehow, he was in this Chambers family side -
just don't know how he was related to Adelaide. Also, according to the
LITTLE's, the CHAMBERS (in my husband's line) had history of many
insanities. How true this is, I don't know.
If anyone can help me with this, I would greatly appreciate it!
Kelly

Dear John,
not tracking, but spending time on-line in the Chalkley Volumes I-III,
finding Mustoe named in his father's will, various court records show
his father William from Maryland...
ran a tavern in Staunton, was active in the militia, married Ann in
Staunton and provided security for a number of other marriages in the
county
I'm not tracking this William because timespan shows not my William (I
need one in NC and TN same time period), but interested, as he was
another interesting CHAMBERs. Thanks for forwarding the obit. Nice
to have to tack into my "Miscellaneous CHAMBERS" file.

In Frederick Co, VA - mid 1700s.
Found a little something on Col. Benj. Chambers in
O'Dell's book in connection with Rev. Wm. Williams. It
verifies that Col. Benj Chambers had wed Jane, dau. of
Rev. Williams....in case anyone is interested.

I am still looking for a different William Chambers, William Eli
Chambers (or Eli William Chambers, as I have seen references), who
was my ggg-grandfather.
He was born in North Carolina in 1795, and died in Princeton,
Caldwell County, Kentucky in 1882. I have seen many recent
references to this list on Chambers moving from Pennsylvania to NC,
and would love to see where my ancestor fits in.
Thanx

Hello!
Has anyone traced the descendants of the Chambers that were living in
the Natchez District of Mississippi in 1768-1816?
I'm interested in the following Chambers.
James Chambers is on the list of English Land Grants in MS 1768-1779 and
received a 1000 acre grant on Dec 15, 1768.
In the Spanish Census of Natchez District of 1792 there were 3 Chambers
listed:
Daniel Chambers Bayou Pierre
William Chambers Second and Sandy Creek
John Chambers Homochitto
The inhabitants of Natchez District 1810:
Israel Chambers Jefferson 101102
Jacob Chambers, Jr. Jefferson 111001
Jacob Chambers, Sr. Jefferson 211507
John Chambers Adams Tax List
John Chambers Jefferson 151306
The inhabitants of Natchez District in 1816
Elijah Chambers Adams
Isaac Chambers Wilkinson
Isaac Chambers Jefferson
Israel Chambers Jefferson
Jacob Chambers Wilkinson
James Chambers Adams
John Chambers Jefferson
What is the relationship of these Chambers listed - are they related?
I am particulally interested in Israel Chambers and his
ancestors/descendants.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Richard

Hi:
This is notoriously the slowest time of the genealogical groups on the
Internet.
I hope that the recent flurry of activity encourages all to re-establish
their interest in digging up their roots and that it will carry on into the
fall and winter.
It is often said that the more you dig into your family ancestry the
more questions come to mind with each new answer you find.
May I extend a hope for a lot of fruitful digging and a lot of rewarding
finds.

This topic is getting ever dearer to my heart. (If this is "the rest", did
I miss something?). What about Isabelle/Nancy? Could she have been born
much later than the others? Or did Edmund have a grandchild or niece named
Nancy?
I have Nancy Chambers, born ca 1795-96 NC, married James Mullis Jan 1817
Wilkes Co. NC. Interesting - I was given info that Edmund had a daughter
who died in Knox Co. KY. This is significant because Knox Co is where my
Nancy is next known to be (possibly via TN). Also intriguing that
Elizabeth Parker is near a Denny in the 1850 Knox Co. Census, and James
Mullis brother married a Denny in NC, though that could be a coincidence as
well as the Tye name.
It bothers me, though, that gGm claimed her gGm (Nancy Chambers) family
came from England. Yes, I know how unreliable family legend is, but would
have a hard time letting go of that one. Anyone with info, or even a
theory?
Thanks,
Kathy
