Hello Again,
I am forwarding this info in hopes that it might be of help to some one on the
list. I am also trying to forward this in another was so that the junk that
normally follows will stay out this time. I hope it works.

Re: Civil War Pension for mothers
It is always worth a try to send for the pension records of a Civil War vet
even if killed in the war. It is just a $0.33 gamble to find out
if there is anything there. The pension records are a potential gold mine .
In one set of records, I found a copy of my 2nd great-grandparents' marriage
certificate with info I couldn't find anywhere else You use the same NARA
Form 80, just check the "pension" box, and remember, you have to use a
separate copy of the form for each type of request - NARA is rather picky
about this.
Also, be sure to write "Please copy all records" somewhere in the margins on
the form, otherwise, if the file is particularly large,
they may only copy documents *they* think might be of interest to you.
Another trick for CW record is if you think the CW Vet you are researching
was wounded or hospitalized with disease, you can send for his medical
records. The medical records are in a separate file and can be ordered with
the Form 80, just don't check any of the three boxes and write in "Medical
Records" in that area.

Subject: Chambers
Greetings,
My name is Bettina Spivey.
I am just beginning to climb the Chambers tree. My grandmothers
maiden
name was Chambers.
Her dad was Arthur Flevin Chambers. He was born October, 19,
1890 in
Hackleburg, Alabama (Marion County). I am told that his father
was John
Thomas Chambers and married to Margaret, but have not verified
this
information.
I plan to go look for him in the 1990 census records next.
His social security card was issued in Missouri.
This somehow seems like it might tie in with your Chambers.
Any help you could offer is appreciated.
Brenda

The following families lived in the Western District of Pickens (later Oconee
Co. South Carolina) There were also some other Chambers families in the area,
ie, Lemich, Phillip, and John, John H. (Sarah Chambers, elderly living with
Allen Durham in Eastern District), William and Lewis. Would appreciate any
information on any of these families....there children had similiar names and
were probably related...would like to sort them out. Most moved to Ga. and
other places after 1860. Will post all if they would help.
Interested in information on (from 1860 Pickens Census)
Spencer Chambers (46)
Nancy C. (26); Patrick(7) Joab (6); Waddy T. (4); Bailus E. (2) and Kiziah
(65) and James (70).
Who are Kiziah and James? Related to John Chambers from Abbeville???
and in 1850 living next door to Spencer were:
Agnes Chambers (54); Jennette (30).....Spencer (12)
and Living with Spencer (36) in 1850 were
Kiziah (56); Jennette (60); James (60); Thomas D (27); Nancy (25) and
children Jane and John
In 1850 Lemick Chambers (40) & Jane (35) had children named Dinah, Elizabeth,
Barnet, Phillip, Lemuel, Masion, Spencer, Leonard, and Jessie.
also in 1850
Leonard (30) with wife Maranda (30) had children names Miley ?; Sassy ?; Mary;
James (9); Irene; Thomas; John; Lemuel, Phillip; Lemick and Spencer.
I believe James (9) son of Leonard was my ggf 1st cousin (according to
information from 2 living cousins who got their information from their
fathers) which would make Leonard my ggf's father and Leonard brothers. James
went on to marry a woman named Maude in about 1863 location unknown. By 1910
they had moved back to Pickens from ??? and had children that were named John,
John H. and Mary as well as others.
If that is true, James A. Chambers b (1814) SC; William b abt1795 SC and
Leonard b abt 1820 would all be brothers. Does anyone know who the father of
these men were? Are they related to the Agnes, James and Kiziah above and to
the Chambers that were in Abbeville Co. SC for a short time?
Thanks
Randy

Hi
We have a line of Chambers with strands that disappear into the US and I
wondered if any one might the other end of the line.
I have a Thomas Chambers ? - 1806 who married Anna ? 1759 - 3.11.1819 (both
of Norfolk) who amongst their issue had a John William Chambers of Gr
Ryburg, USA. His sons were Thomas Peter and Sancroft. We have a reference to
Sancroft being in Fowler, California in 1922 and in 1932 we have a reference
to Miss C F Chambers with no other information on her.
Since Sancroft is not an every day christian name perhaps it might produce a
link??
Cheers

Re my above message, I may have confused some people. My Norfolk is the
