Hi - I am doing research on the Chamberlain and Eccleston families.
John Chamberlain ECCLESTON, 1867-1923
Married about 1901
Mary (Owens) ECCLESTON, 1875- death date unknown
Children:
Sarah Elizabeth ECCLESTON, 1903-?
Marian O. ECCLESTON, 1904-?
Lucy ECCLESTON, 1905-?
Juanita ECCLESTON, 1908-?
Laura ECCLESTON, 1915-?
John and Mary came from Lewisburg, Union Co., PA, and also had lived in Buenos Aires,
Argentina. The 1930 census shows Marian and Juniata living in Bound Brook, Somerset
County, NJ.
According to the Bucknell University Alumni Catalog, his mother, Sallie Chamberlain, was
in the Class of 1858. Her son, John C., was in the Class of 1887, but he did not graduate.
He became ill, so his mother brought him to Buenos Aires with her. John's wife, Mary
Owens, graduated with the Class of 1897. The Bucknell University Alumni Catalog, published
in 1926, states that Mary was living in Bound Brook, N.J. The catalog also states that
John was deceased in 1923. [I do not have a complete date, do you? I wonder where he was
buried at.]
Sallie is buried in Buenos Aires in the British Cemetery. She died on Oct. 10, 1916. (Her
brother, Col. Thomas CHAMBERLIN, a Civil War veteran, is buried in the Chamberlin family
plot, in the Lewisburg Cemetery, Union County, PA.)
The father, Charles Frederick ECCLESTON, is buried in the Lewisburg Cemetery, Union
County, PA, and I've seen his stone. He died on Jan. 21, 1875.
According to the 1930 census, two of John and Mary's daughters, Marian and Juniata,
were living in Bound Brook, Somerset County, NJ.
John's sister, Emily, was married to Daniel Campbell. Emily was a school teacher, like
her mother, in Argentina. Daniel worked on the Paraguay Central Railway as an engineer. I
know they had children, but have not found their names yet. Daniel came from England.
Daniel died on April 23, 1944 at the age of 84.
Thanks,
Sid
