Dave Ogle of Benbrook, TX, recently Emailed me images of several documents pertaining to
this family - cemetery grave markers, death certificates, obituaries, etc. William Hayes
Chamberlin was a Corporal, 1st Territorial Volunteer Infantry, prob. Co. A, in the Spanish
American War, per his gravestone - buried with his wife in Mountain View Cemetery,
Kingman, AZ. He was married c1902, in Farmington, San Juan Co., NM, to Anna
"Lila" Ivie, b. 1884, Loa, Wayne Co., UT, d. 4 Aug 1964, Kingman, AZ, with two
unidentified children who died young (before 1910 according to the 1910 census), and three
who did survive: Lila, Lillian and Mayme or "Mamie". Lila Ivie was the daughter
of Joseph J. Ivie, an Indian scout for the U. S. Cavalry, and she became a well-known
dealer in Navajo and Hopi Indian merchandise before her death. William "was with
Babbitt Bros. Trading Co. in Holbrook, Prescott, and Kingman before his death",
according to his wife's obituary, and was listed as a retail!
store manager when he died of pneumonia at Mohave General Hospital in 1951.
