Daniel Constitine Chamberlin, born 18 Dec 1843, died 15 Apr 1919, was the oldest of 8
known children of Dr. Alonzo M. Chamberlin, who was born, ca1813, in Virginia and died, 17
May 1882, Kellis' Store, Kemper Co., Mississippi, and his second wife, Mary or
Margaret Adeline Anderson, b. 1814, SC, d. 3 May 1882. As shown in the 1880 census for
this family, Alonzo's parents were natives of Virginia. We don't know their
identity nor where in Virginia they lived, as yet. For additional information about this
family, as I said in my last reply to you, please contact me via Email, James B. Parker,
at: jbparker(a)provide.net. Considerable has been published about this family, and I can
advise you about my contacts/sources - descendants who have been researching this family.
Alonzo is said to have been descended from 1 of 4 brothers who came from England, but
this has not been confirmed. He first appears in 1836 in Obion Co., Tennessee, a partner
in a business entitled Covington and Chamberlin - Covington died in 1837. Another account
says he was in business with another, older man, Lysander Adams. Perhaps because of some
lawsuits, and after the death of his first wife, Jane F. Anderson, 30 Nov 1841, in Obion
Co., TN, he remarried and moved to Summerville Noxubee Co., Mississippi, where his first
several children were born.
