I see this couple listed in LDS-IGI records and in an
Ancestry.com "Winton Family
Tree" online, listing their marriage, 18 Oct 1831 in Petersham, Worcester Co., MA,
with accompanying census data for them. This Sophronia G. Chamberlin was born 1805-1806,
probably in Massachusetts, but there is nothing to identify her in the records I've
reviewed. You list her father as John Chamberlin, born c1780 - please advise your
source/rationale for his information.
So, census data for 1810 list 5 families in Petersham and 2 in Dana, most of whom
have young daughters. I've checked the ancestral records I maintain here for each of
them carefully, and I see that a daughter named Sophronia is NOT named in any of these
families, but there is one good possibility, however. This is John(6) Chamberlin,
baptized 10 Oct 1779, East Bridgewater, Plymouth Co., MA, who was married, 11 Nov 1804, in
Barre, Worcester Co., MA, to Lucy Hale (1786-1819). This couple lived in Dana in 1810
& 1820 and did have an unidentified daughter of the right age, who might well be your
Sophronia. Please refer to the World Chamberlain Genealogical Society website, wherein
you can locate thousands of professionally prepared Family Group Records, prepared by the
late Ch'n genealogist, David Conrad Chamberlin, Sr., an associate of mine. Look for
the FGR for this John(6) Chamberlin, identified as LN#1197. As you will see, there were
several sons and perhaps one y!
ounger daughter in this family, none of whom have been identified. You can contact me,
