This is Gilbert J. "Bert" Chamberlin (he signed it Chamberlin in his Draft
Registration record, but his father may have preferred the spelling of Chamberlain), born
3 Apr 1880, Green, Mecosta Co., MI, d. 17 Sep 1951, Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., OH, whose
wife was Lillie Alma Leroy, b. 29 Nov 1883, OH, d. 1 Jan 1935, Cincinnati, OH - with 11
children as you have them listed. He is one of eight known children of James D.(8)
Chamberlain, b. Nov 1839, OH, died after 1910, perhaps Elida Village, German Twp., Allen
Co., OH (where he was living in 1910) and his wife Lucy (surname unknown), born about
1843, OH, died before 1900. The ancestral line of descent is listed here as: Godfrey(7)
Chamberlin (ca1797-after 1870); Godfrey(6) (1755-1828); Col. Henry(5) (1725-1781); John(4)
(ca1687-1739); Henry(3) (1659-1689); John(2) (ca1626-1666); Henry(1) (ca1592-1674) - the
oldest of the five earliest Ch'n immigrant ancestors in early New England. The first
8 generations of this family are l!
isted in very detailed Family Group Records for each generation prepared by the late
genealogist, David Conrad Chamberlin, Sr., of Salt Lake City, on file and accessible to
the public in the website of the World Chamberlain Genealogical Society - I urge you to
obtain copies of them there. Also, a very nicely done, detailed lineage for Gilbert and
other members of his family can be viewed in the
Ancestry.com "Chamberlin, Cooley,
Reilman Family Tree" which I just now used to update my records for this family here.
Ancestry.com contains photos and other documents including Gilbert's death
certificate, and the WWI Draft Registration record you cited. Numerous census records are
also available in
Ancestry.com. Please contact me via Email if you wish to discuss this
information in greater detail. James B. Parker, Email: jbparker(a)provide.net.
