I'm also aware of your GenForum Chamberlain posting, dated 19 Nov 2001, with similar information, indicating that you know that Luther & Julia (Chamberlin) Hoyt were from Madrid, St. Lawrence Co., NY and lived there as well as at Potsdam. An LDS Ancestral File (Mornon Internet Family Search site), lists Luther E. Hoyt, b. 1 Feb 1834, Bristol, Addison Co., VT, son of George S. & Phidelia/Fidelia (Roberts) Hoyt, who married Julia Chamberlain (b. c1830 VT), 26 Oct 1851, Bristol, VT, who had a daughter named Ida May Hoyt. b. 19 Jul 1861, Vergennes, Addison Co., VT. Can these be the same persons? What is your source for their having lived in Madrid, NY, and when were they there? Anson Chamberlin & wife were listed in Madrid in 1830 & 1850 Census, and were said to have had 8 children, 4 of whom are listed in 1850 who were born in NY (Julia not listed among them). Anson came to Madrid, NY from Massachusetts with his father Anson Sr., and never lived in Vermont as far as I can !
discern. There must be some confusion in these records.
