Claude responded to your posting, because you used the French-Canadian surname spelling of
Chamberland, and he is a specialist in this surname. There are some Chamberlands in the
U. S., most of them descended from the Quebec Chamberlands, and I keep records on all of
them myself. The ordinary English/American spelling of this surname is Chamberlain or
Chamberlin, as perhaps you are aware. There are three Oscar Wrights listed in the 1881
Canadian Census, but none with a wife with this name. My own extensive records don't
list anyone named Mollie Chamberland.
There were/are dozens of Oscar Wrights in the U. S., but only one or two who married
a Chamberlain/lin, and none who actually appear in the Chamberlain/lin databases I
maintain. But good candidates do appear in other records. So, the persons who match the
best with your information (that they came from PA to OH), would be Oscar C. Wright, who
married Lilly C. Chamberlain, 8 Aug 1878, Medina, OH, per IGI record. This couple is
listed in the 1880 U. S. Census, as follows:
- 1880 Census, Stow, Summit Co., OH, p. 406C, Oscar Wright, age 34, carpenter, PA/PA/-;
Lilly O., wife, age 22, keep house, OH/-/OH; Harvey, son, age 3, OH/OH/OH.
If you think this is the family you are seeking, please contact me via Email, and
I'll help you trace the Chamberlain line on back, if possible. One can also trace
this Wright family in census records, presumably, on down through 1930. You may wish, as
well, to provide me with the specific sources for the information you have at hand for
this couple - where you obtained the data you cited for them, and anything else you know
about them, their families, children, descendants, etc.
