Hello,
In addition to my first posting, I would like to add that I did not find any
postings on Chelmsford, MA, in the Archives. And, I did not find the
KIDDER surname mentioned.
I'd just like to mention this set of ancestors:
Joseph KIDDER, b1725 Chelmsford, MA, married Rebecca CHAMBERLAIN, b1727
Chelmsford, MA, in Westford, MA, in 1752.
(Westford annexed off of Chelmsford around that time. The father of Joseph
was Thomas KIDDER and his home was in that part of Chelmsford which became
Westford.) Thomas was the grandson of the patriarch, James KIDDER, of
Billerica, MA, through his son, John KIDDER, of Chelmsford, MA.)
I am now receiving information that Rebecca was the daughter of Samuel
CHAMBERLAIN, b1685, Chelmsford, MA, and Rebecca WILDER, b1686 Hingham, MA,
who married in Chelmsford, MA, in 1722/23.
Joseph was one of three KIDDER brothers who moved to New Ipswich, NH, around
1750 and helped to found that town. The children of Joseph and Rebecca
KIDDER were born in New Ipswich, but the family later moved to the next
town, Temple, NH:
Wilder KIDDER, b1753 (Famous Fifer in Rev. War) (to NY/VT?)
Rebecca KIDDER, b1754
Sibyl KIDDER, b1756
Susannah KIDDER (twin), b1759
Lydia KIDDER (twin), b1759
Molly KIDDER, b1761 (marr. Stephen AUSTIN)
Joseph KIDDER, b1763 (to NY/VT after Rev. War ??)
Calvin KIDDER, b1765 (my ancestor, went to Canada ~1783)
Rhoda KIDDER, b1767
...
My ancestor, Calvin KIDDER, settled in St. Stephen, NB, and his only child,
"Calvin" KIDDER, started a branch of the family in Washington County, ME
(Princeton, Maine).
Thank you for your time.
Betty (near Lowell, MA)
P.S. The "Kidder book" lists the wife of Joseph KIDDER as ..
Rebecca (WILDER) CHAMBERLAIN .. and I am now finding out that is incorrect.
WILDER was her mother's maiden name.
