Hello,
Hello. I just checked the archives, and I don't see any recent postings
about the CHAMBERLAIN families who lived in Billerica and Chelmsford, MA,
during the 1600's.
I am descended from Samuel CHAMBERLAIN, b1685, Chelmsford, MA, who married
Rebecca WILDER, b1686/7, Hingham, MA. This is through their daughter,
Rebecca CHAMBERLAIN, b1727, Chelmsford, MA, who married Joseph KIDDER in
Westford, MA, in 1752.
Joseph KIDDER is descended from James KIDDER (1626-1676) of Billerica, MA,
and his son, John KIDDER of Chelmsford, MA.
I've looked at the CHAMBERLAIN before, but this morning I'm noticing that
there is not SOLID information about the CHAMBERLAIN men in 1600's Billerica
and Chelmsford, MA.
Both Billerica and Chelmsford, MA, were founded in 1655*, but each were
"first settled" at different times.
I am already descended from two early residents of Billerica, MA, through
James KIDDER (above) and through Simon CROSBY (1637-1725).
Now, I am wondering if I am descended from the CHAMBERLAIN family in early
Billerica. Or, was William CHAMBERLAIN of early Billerica a brother of
Samuel CHAMBERLAIN of early Chelmsford?
There also seems to be a discussion as to whether Samuel or William married
a .. Mary PARKER. The Billerica book is very confusing when it mentions that
a CHAMBERLAIN married a Mrs. Mary PARKER (widow of Sergt. John PARKER of
Billerica) in 1674. If it is referring to William PARKER, it also says that
his wife, Rebecca (SHELLEY??) PARKER, died in Prison in 1692. ??? But, the
LDS records show someone saying that Samuel CHAMBERLAIN of Chelmsford had a
second wife, Mary PARKER.
**Both Billerica and Chelmsford, MA, will be celebrating their 350th
Anniversary in ..2005. Plans for celebrations are in the works.
