I have a man surnamed CHAMBERLAIN who married a sister to one of my
ancestors, and for a long time that is all we knew. I have learned a
little bit more, but it is still not enough to help me yet. Maybe
something will sound familiar to one of you.
Our ancestor's sister was named Rachel CRAIG, and she was born in Mercer
County, Pennsylvania, on 23 Jul 1825, the daughter of James CRAIG and
Elizabeth HASTINGS. We don't know where her marriage took place, but it
should be in or near Mercer County, and the date listed by someone in a
family Bible was 27 Sep 1868. From the 1880 Census we have found out
the groom's initials are J. R. (don't you hate census records and
newspaper articles that only give initials?). It also says he was born
in Connecticut and was 70 at the time. They were living in Geneva,
Fillmore County, Nebraska at the time of the Census.
That is all I know, which is a little more than I knew a month ago. If
anyone thinks they have information, please let me know.
Thanks
Ed Scriven.
