Hi Folks,
Benjamin Chamberlain was born 1758 and died 1831 in Lexington, Greene Co.,
NY. In the same cemetery where he is buried is the following:
Lexington Village Cemetery
Elizabeth Chamberlin, w/o Isaac T. Van Valkenburgh, d. March 9, 1873, aged
65y6m24d
I show Benjamin and his second wife, Susanna Miller, had a daughter
Elizabeth born about 1806. Could this be the same Elizabeth who married Isaac Van
Valkenburg. The Chamberlains had been in Greene Co. since at least 1800 and
the Van Valkenburgs were in Greene Co. before 1840. I have this for Isaac Van
Valkenburg:
1. Elizabeth CHAMBERLAIN was born on 25 AUG 1807. She died on 9 MAR 1873.
She was buried in Lexington, Greene Co., NY. She was married to Isaac Tunis
VAN VALKENBURG (son of Teunis VAN VALKENBURG and Margriet or MARGARET TURK).
Isaac Tunis VAN VALKENBURG was born on 8 NOV 1807. Elizabeth CHAMBERLAIN
and Isaac Tunis VAN VALKENBURG had the following children:
+2 i. Lauren Chamberlain VAN VALKENBURG.
3 ii. Lydia A. VAN VALKENBURG was born on 22 APR 1839. She died on 13 JUN
1841.
4 iii. Michael VAN VALKENBURG was born in 1848.
SECOND GENERATION
2. Lauren Chamberlain VAN VALKENBURG was born on 29 OCT 1834. He died on
20 MAY 1903. He was buried in Lexington, Greene Co., NY. He was married to
Amanda COLE on 12 JUL 1866 in Lexington, Greene Co., NY. Amanda COLE was born
on 26 JAN 1839 in Windham, Greene Co., NY. She died on 23 OCT 1925. Lauren
Chamberlain VAN VALKENBURG and Amanda COLE had the following children:
+5 i. Lewis Eugene VAN VALKENBURG.
I did find the 1870 census but could not find earlier ones.
1870 Lexington, Greene Co., NY
Van, Isaac T. 62 NY, Blacksmith
Elizabeth 62 NY
Charles 14 NY
If anyone can confirm or disclaim that the Elizabeth who married Isaac is
the same Elizabeth who was daughter of Benjamin Chamberlain, I'd love to hear
from you.
TTYL,
Fran Daniels
