A record exists in the Kamouraska parish of St. Louis in the Drouin collection for a
"Henriette Chamard. In this record, it is hard to decipher what the record says
about the parents. The godparents, "Parraine" and "Marraine" are
Joseph Chamard and Marie Joseph Dancosse. The name of the father has been written on top
of another name and it is illegible. In the place where we usually find the words
"fille legitime de..." we find instead "pere incommus". My conclusion
is that Henriette is a child who is raised by her godparents. The record I found is from
1800 and is on page 15 of the records. There is a footnote that I cannot decipher but it
might be about the names of the parents and the names might be from a different language.
Can anyone tell me what this record really says?
