The footnote--the scratchy stuff in the lower right corner say something like "et
mere, deux mots xxxx" The line directly above the footnote at the bottom says
"trois mots rayas nuls" or something like that. It means three words crossed
out. The footnote says "and mother, two words inserted". OK I'm guessing
at that but it does clearly say "et mere" and "deux mots..." So if
you insert the footnote, the text would read "pere et mere inconnus..." The
church people probably knew who the real parents were. The way of annotating things when
you crossed our words or had footnotes makes sense for a legal type document in an age
long before computers or typewriters and whiteout. So if you scratch something out, you
write down how many words you scratched out. If you insert words, you write down how many
words you inserted. I struggled with this for a while and finally found some legal
documents from Quebec that had the same type of annotations.
So no, there is no indication of who the mother was in the baptismal record.
