Message Board Post:
I'm having no success in discovering the origins of my Great Grandfather, Thomas
CHALMERS. What I know for certain is that he was a blacksmith, and that he worked for
some time around the 1900s at Balmullo, Fife, Scotland. He married Helen Walker McLanders
around 1899, and they had four children:
Alexander CHALMERS, born 1900, Balmullo, married Joan TOSH;
Thomas CHALMERS, born 1902, Balmullo;
Ann Paton CHALMERS, born 1904, Balmullo;
James CHALMERS, born 1906, Balmullo.
Despite the Balmullo connection, we believe that Thomas CHALMERS and his ancestors may
have originated in Dundee, as that is where his wife, Helen, was from, and also that is
where his son, Alexander, was brought up (Alexander CHALMERS was my grandfather).
The list of possible contenders for "my" Thomas CHALMERS is:

I'm hoping that, if no-one can tell me who Thomas CHALMERS' parents were, it's
quite possible that some other, wonderful researchers may be able to help me to eliminate
those who weren't the right chap! I really am at the proverbial brick wall that we
hear so much about, and I sincerely hope that my fellow researchers will live up to that
famous Chalmers spirit of friendship, and help me to resolve this long-standing problem!
Thank you!!!
Sue (nee Chalmers)
