Hi Bob,
My own CHALMERS line are all from Fife and Kinross, so I don't foresee a link between
our two lines. I have one line, my GIBSON line that comes from Perthshire. They seem to
have been farming folk, and moved around - and I have little information on them. Some of
my Chalmers line moved up to Perth later in the 19th century it seems, but I know little
of them, and my fathers cousin still lives in Perth (where co-incidentally I was born!).
I tried the LDS web-site for you and have this (which you may know already):
John CHALMERS
Sex: M
Event(s):
Christening: 11 Jun 1809
Redgorton, Perth, Scotland
Parents:
Father: James CHALMERS
Mother: Barbara FLEMING
I can find no marriage for James and Barbara, but see the following children to the
couple:
1. Ann CHALMERS - International Genealogical Index
Gender: F Christening: 13 Mar 1814 Redgorton, Perth, Scotland
2. Margaret CHALMERS - International Genealogical Index
Gender: F Christening: 15 Apr 1804 Redgorton, Perth, Scotland
3. John CHALMERS - International Genealogical Index
Gender: M Christening: 11 Jun 1809 Redgorton, Perth, Scotland
4. Robert CHALMERS - International Genealogical Index
Gender: M Birth: 1 Jul 1819 Scone, Perth, Scotland
5. William CHALMERS - International Genealogical Index
Gender: M Christening: 24 Feb 1824 Scone, Perth, Scotland
6. Thomas CHALMERS - International Genealogical Index
Gender: M Christening: 18 Sep 1825 Dundee, Angus, Scotland
7. Thomas CHALMERS - International Genealogical Index
Gender: M Christening: 28 Mar 1830 Perth, Perth, Scotland
Earliest child 1804 and last one 1830, makes me almost suspect two couples of the same
name, but I have a couple of instances in my own lines with a birth to a woman around 50
years of age.
Can't help you further, but I hope that's of interest.
John
