I have sent this email to all of the
rootsweb.com mailing lists that I
administer (I'm still procrastinating on studying for my final tomorrow
morning so I thought this would be a good delay ploy).
I need a Vote:
There are two options apparently for a Rootsweb Mailing List to use when a
mailing list user hits "reply" to send a reply to an email posted to the
mailing list:
A.
Reply - send the reply back to list for all to read - this is the list
default that I have set-up currently (interestingly enough they have named
it Munging???!!)
B.
Reply - goes back to the individual's email address that posted the message
in the first place, not the list unless you override the reply line in
email program.
My thinking originally for choosing option A was that the lists have so few
subscribers that we wouldn't be overwhelmed by too many emails with the
replies going back to the list (the user always had the option of
over-riding the reply to address back to the individual that posted the
message if the reply was of a more personal nature). Apparently option A
is not considered very "politically correct" anymore so if you could please
let me know which method you vote for A or B I'll tally up the votes and
implement the change next Friday (April 23). Personally I would still like
to use option A because sometimes you can learn some interesting new piece
of information from the reply that you wouldn't have gotten unless you were
the original poster of the message.
Please send your votes to lists-oceanv(a)shaw.ca (My "administrator" email
address) otherwise hitting reply will send your vote to the list which
might be a bit chaotic.
Thanks
Joanne
PS. It would be great if we could post our interests and liven up the lists
a bit.
