Hi List,
Received the following Marriage Certificate from Caerphilly
July 2nd 1848
Henry Challenger. Full age. Bachelor. Occ. Miner Residence Rhymney. Father Isaac
Challenger. Occ. Miner
Emma Walker. Full Age. Spinster. Residence Rhymney. Father John Walker Occ. Sawyer.
Married at the Parish Church, Rhmney, Mon according to the Rites etc..
Bride & Groom made their marks. Witnesses:- Denis Buckley & George Bird. (both
signed)
99.9% certain that these are my 2 x g.grandparents and the parents of my errant George
Henry Challenger who married in 1874
Does anyone with an Isaac in their lists anywhere - recognise Henry as a son of his? Am
guessing that he was born somewhere around 1825 ish (only going on the age of Emma in the
1881 census) and again this is a guess but Somerset was always the claimed origin of this
branch of Challenger.
Thanks in anticipation
Louise
