What I gave you is from a transcription of the 1851 census. What I've done is
send off that entry to my dear friend Maggie Perkins who, as some on the list
know already, is Queen of the Clutton parish Registers. Hopefully she will come
up with some births/marriages to fit, as she is an extremely helpful lady. I'll
let you know when I hear back from her.

Subject: [CHALLENGER] 1851 Clutton register
This is, without a doubt, my family. Anyone out there know anything
more
about it? There was supposed to be a Sarah Challenger out there in around
the same time that was also a relative. I would love to know Marion's
source, and anything more about Richard and Joseph (I know pretty much
everything about John and William) George and Mary Ann. I think Mary Ann's
maiden name was Sweet.
>From Marion, I read:
Hi David,
>From the information you give, I suspect that this could be the family in
Clutton in 1851:
CHALLENGER, George, 57, Coal Miner, Clutton
Mary Ann, 53, Clutton
John, 26, Coal Miner, Clutton
Richard, 21, Coal Miner, Clutton
Joseph, 17, coal miner, Clutton
William, 14, Coal miner, Clutton
I hope someone else can verify this and perhaps give more information.
Nice to see some life in this list again!
Marion
