Thanks David, this is one of mine - Elizabeth A(nn), age 3, was my
grandmother.
James Challenger married Peninnah Tudgay at St Cadoc's, Trevethin on 25th
December 1866.
The second child should read Jonas - bpt. 16 Oct 1870.
(their third was James - bpt. 2 July 1872)
I have looked through most of the parish registers for this part of
Monmouthshire and have a note of all the Challenger entries if anyone has
any queries.
Lawford Thomas

Subject: [CHALLENGER] CHALLENGER STRAYS.
I was at the FRC recently and spotted this CHALLENGER entry in the 1871
census for Monmouthshire. It may be "old hat" but better safe than sorry.
1871 RG 10 5334 44 42.
Talywain.
James CHALLENGER Head 29 Coal Miner Born Clutton.
(Looks like) Penimah CHALLENGER Wife 25 Born Wells.
Elizabeth A. CHALLENGER Daug. 3 Born Trevethin.
James CHALLENGER Son 7 months. Born Trevethin.
David Ware.
