Fellow Challengers,
Do any of you have information re. a Joseph CHALLENGER, a pianoforte
maker, born in Bath c.1800? [Ref. 1851 census]
The nearest that I have got to him is in Walcot, where two Josephs
were baptised in 1796. (Three actually, but one died young.) I am
still trying to establish which one, if either of them, is my
ancestor.
He married Emma HORN, possibly in Islington c.1824.
He died possibly between 1853 & 1856. Not found in the civil
register or any likely parish or burial ground registers yet.
I would be interested in contacting descendants of their
children:-
1) Mary Ann m. Henry STICKLAND at St. Pancras church in 1856.
2) George Augustus m. Mary Ann FISK at St. John's Hampstead in
1851.
3) William Dunnington m. Caroline Sarah GROOM at the Congregational
Chapel, Ryde in 1853.
4) Isabella Emma m. Thomas Hadley DAVIS in St. Pancras 1864.
5) Joseph Henry m. Louisa KING at St. Margaret's Westminster in
1857.
6) Augusta Charlotte m. Joseph Benjamin WILDSMITH at St. Pancras
Old Church in 1861. [My great grandparents.]
7) Ann born c. 1841.
8) Arthur Clement m. (1) before 1868. m. (2) Susan GOLDTHORPE at
West Hackney in 1878.
9) Alfred Walsly m. Ann Early CANE at St. Mary's Lambeth in 1872.
Judith.
