I am keen to hear from any subscriber to this Challenger archive who
believes he/she has a connection to the marriage of George Challenger and
Hannah Heep at Batheaston on 8th February 1779. It seems possible that these
were the parents of a William Challenger born to George and Hannah at
Nailsea in December 1789.
Nailsea registers also feature a later George and Hannah Challenger (married
in 1805). This second George is believed to have been born at Winford about
1782.

I came across the following at Somerset Record Office last week. Of no
immediate interest to me, but it appears to tie up one "loose end" on the
"Blagdon Challengers" tree emanating from the 1685 marriage of Ralph
Challoner and Susanna Hoson. Hope it is of interest to some of you.
Three children baptised to Ralph and Jane Challenger at Kewstoke between
1715 and 1720: Mary, Sarah and John
Ralph (1744), Jane (1723) and I am assuming two of the children - Mary (Jan
1729/30) and John (1740) - were all buried at Kewstoke. I found no further
reference to Sarah, bap 21 Nov 1717.
Does anyone have a marriage for Ralph and Jane? Records for years 1705-1709
appeared to be missing or illegible; it could be at the end of this period
as this Ralph was presumably baptised 18 Sep 1687 at Blagdon.
Has anyone searched the other parishes in and around Weston-s-Mare for
Challoners / Challengers in the 18th century?
Kind regards = N McCarthy
