Dear Geoffrey,
Well there's a turnout for the books ... sounds promising, even if as you say
(and I agree) it may be a little early - do you have any details on Robert's
descendents ?
He would have had to wait a long time after marrying for his only child ! And
it seems that he had other children if you say he is part of your wife's
family. (Although this could easily be through common issue to both of us ...
William does not show on your wife's Chalk side ?)
I suspect that if he is indeed the guy I'm after that other memebers of my
family may have skipped a generation ..
Our family tends to respect history and many names recurr ..in first names ..
Hammond, Mary, Robert, William, Rupert, Womersley, Elizabeth are well in
there.
I will keep you posted if anything comes up.
Many thanks again for getting back to me.
Mark

Dear Mark,
Well, my wife's GGGGGG Grandfather, Robert CHALK, married Elizabeth HAMMOND
in 1728, details as follows:
The marriage of Robert Chalk, 'of Hadstock', and Elizabeth Hammond, 'of
this
Parish', was solemnised at St. Mary's Church, Linton, Cambridgeshire, on
the
11th of February 1728.
But that's too early for you, methinks!
Yours, etc.
Geoffrey Woollard in Cambridgeshire (happily married for 40 years to a
CHALK
descendant!).
