Yes, Christopher Chaffin, born Abt. 1690, was the Christopher who was killed
by two runaway slaves.
This Christopher Chaffin lived in Christ Church Parish, Middlesex County,
Virginia. His wife was named Sarah.
I found the birth records of their children listed in the Vestry records of
the Christ Church Parish, Middlesex County, Virginia:
John Chaffin, born April 1, 1716
Christopher Chaffin (Jr.), born Nov 11, 1718
Mary Chaffin, born Sept 2, 1721
William Chaffin, born Dec 20, 1724 (died Jan 3, 1725)
John Chaffin, born July 27, 1726
I'm not sure why there were two children named John. I have heard of
parents naming another child the same name if the older one died, but from
what I have seen, the first John lived until Jan 25, 1773.
(I have not researched this part....the information was given to me.)
Christopher Chaffin was killed in 1727.
(The Vestry Records show a Christopher Chaffin died August 22, 1727.
I assume it was this Christopher and not his son.)
He and Jacob Rice had been hired by John Grimes, Esquire, to capture two
runaway slaves.
In a petition to the House of Burgesses 1727-1734 (probably about 1727-1728)
Grimes stated that two of his Negroes ran away to Maryland, and Grimes hired
Jacob and Christopher to bring them home, "that they murdered those two
persons and returned again to Maryland where they were again committed; that
the widows and children of these unfortunate men are left in a very
difficult condition and the petitioner has been at great expense in bringing
the said Negroes to justice" and requested aid. The petition was referred
to the Committee of Public Claims.
(Bowie Maryland Heritage Book, 1994: "Journals of the House of Burgesses
1727-1734", page 65)
His widow Sarah Chaffin married John Davis of Feb 11, 1729/30.
She married John Owens on July 20, 1732.
(This information was given to me. Is this what you have?)

I know- I've been researching my Chaffin line for about 9 years now.
Someone had told me that the Christopher Chafin/Chaffin, born 1690 was
killed by a runaway slave.
