Lori:
I still haven't discounted Chaffin as a surname for Martha "Patsy"s and
Hannah Smith's mother, although I don't see the name among all my other
collateral around Surry Co.
Let me pique your curiosity, though, -- some forty-something years ago,
when my mother and Julia Camp Looney (Dunn) were researching the Daniel
connections for her "History of the Camp Family" and found the Bible in
the possession of a later Daniel collateral down in Alabama (I have his
name somewhere), in the recording of their marriage Martha's name was
first written as "Martha "Patsy" LOVVORN, the Lovvorn was lined out and
"SMITH" written in above ((same handwriting). This led them to wonder
about the possibility that Martha was a young Lovvorn widow with a small
child. The marriage certificate says Smith, though. According to your
info, and that of others, however, I haven't found a son of Thos.
Lovvorn who married and died early, and the 1784-87 Surry Co. census
verifies those you show in Thos. Lovvorn's family. So.....
TTYL
