Hi, Lori:
Checked out your info, and we have a "Bingo" here!!
The First State Census of North Carolina, 1784-1787, Surry Co., Capt.
Hickman's District, List Taken by John Childress, Pg. 2:
Thos. Loving [Lovvorn]
White Males, 21 to 60 yrs: 1
WM, under 21 & over 60: 4
White Females, all ages: 4
Blacks, 12-60: 0
Blacks, under 12-over 60: 0
From the above, then, it would appear that James Lovvorn, his second son,
was probably born in NC, and moved with his family to Wilkes Co., GA by
1793, when Oglethorpe county was cut out of Wilkes Co. James married in
1801 in GA. to Hannah Smith , daughter of William Smith, b. NC??, d.
1829, GA. Martha "Patsy" Smith, Hannah's sister, was born 1785 in NC??,
was married in 1807 in Clarke Co., GA. to my fourth great grandfather,
Thomas Daniel, b. 1786, GA.
Between your information and mine, however, I cannot yet find that
Hannah's and Martha "Patsy"s mother was a Chaffin. When I can get to the
footlocker of my Mother's research papers that is in storage right now, I
will happy to send to you the photocopy of the Daniel/Camp/Lovvorn Bible
that records both Hannah's and Martha "Patsy"s marriages, William
Smith's
death, other Lovvorn, Camp, Hendrix and Rigsby marriages, births, etc.
It appears that Thomas Daniel, B. 1786, GA., husband of Martha and
bothering to Hannah, was also living in Together Co., GA. in Cartesian'
District, when he drew land in the Second (1807) GA. Lottery, as an
"Orphan", shortly before he turned 21 and he and Martha were married just
after. The land he drew was in Welkins Co., but I can find no evidence
that they ever lived on it.
I have a full calendar for the next few weeks, but please be sure to
rattle my cage if I have not gotten back to you soon after!!
