Hi Jim- My Chaffins are from the Bowling Green Area- actually a little town to the west of Bowling Green.
My grandfather was James Edward m. Mary Black around Hadley in 1905. While still living in Ky, they had four children before moving to Santa Rosa Co., Fl. where they are listed ion the 1930 Census rolls.

Hi, I have a connection to the Chaffins in or around Bowling Green Ky, Edward Chaffin and Mary Black- does this fit into your line? Thanks Ann
Found a book on ebay that shows these people to have genealogy in this book.
Might help someone in their research.
They also have other name indexes shown and a photo of the book.

Hi Ed-
I don't have anything new to add to your query but I have some collateral information that you might be interested in.
My stepfather is Robert L Chaffin- His father- Edward Chaffin married Mary Black both living around Bowling Green Ky. They moved to Fla. amidst a scandal involving a Judge Black- some relation to my grandmother.
I would love to share some of your Ky. info. I am having a hard time finding a starting point. My dad is elderly and his recollection is very bad.
Thanks.

I have a book that was typed by family memebers and I just found it when my Mother died in May.
I have listed from 1740 to 1800-
Elijah Chaffin Licensed minister
Joseph Chaffin Licensed minister
Amos Chaffin Ordained minister
Elias Chaffin Ordained Minister
They are all brothers.
They were from Burke County North Carolina
Amos Chaffin married a snider, a knitter from Englad of Scotch Irish blood. That is all that is knows about Ms. Snider. It shows Amos and Ms. Snider having a child Margaret Chappin Mother of Jasper Chaffin Jackson.
This is how I am related. My Father was Elwood Chaffin Jackson.
Hope this will help. I do not have anything else on the Chaffin family.
Thanks,
Susan Jackson Carter

I have info regarding the Chaffins from Ga. My side of the family is Chaffin and Jackson.

All were brothers.
Amos Chaffin married a Snider ( first name not known), she was a knitter from England of Scotch Irist blood.
Margaret Chaffin was the Mother of Jasper C. Jackson

My father Elwood Chaffin Jackson was related to the Chaffin family.

Greetings to all,
Wondering if anyone has any information on the parents of a John B Chafin/Chaffin, born around 1825 in Kentucky. His parents were from Virginia.
John B Married Elizabeth Taylor (from Virginia) in 1848 in Lawrence County Kentucky. Their children were Lorenzo, Mary, Ellis and Julia; all born in Lawrence County Kentucky.
I believe John B had at least one brother, William “Bill” Chaffin/Chafin who married a “Polly” Taylor in 1849 and may have eventually moved to Texas. Possibly another brother named Lewis sp?.
Any info is greatly appreciated! Thanks
