Hi Mike,
At the moment the only Joseph Chaffey(great-uncle) I am fairly sure of was born c.1852 to
Thomas (1805-1888) and Caroline ( nee Atwell,c.1830-1892). all born in Dorset. They were
my great-grandparents on my dad's side. I haven't been able to go further back
than this as of yet so am unsure if there is any connection with the Joseph you mention.
Thanks for the info. anyway as who knows where all this searching may lead.
All the best
Julia

I have a Joseph Chaffey born 1825? in Dorset
England, presumed parents, William Chaffey and Mary
Ridout, and if that is so then there were siblings
named Benjamin and Isabella.
Married September 23, 1848 to Rachel Gale. He
died March 27, 1901 in Jefferys, Newfoundland, she had
predeceased him on December 4, 1866 at Crabbs Brook,
Newfoundland.
Let me know if this sounds like the right family
and I willpoint you in the correct direction.
Mike
