GREENWOOD -- Mrs. Marion D. Dixon, 61, of Greenwood died early Thursday morning at
the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa., where she had been a patient the past five
days.
She was born in the Town of Independence, Allegany County, and had lived the greater
part of her life in the Town of Greenwood. She was a graduate of the former Greenwood
Union Free School.
A member, past matron and former secretary of the Greenwood order of the Eastern
Star, She was also a member of the Greenwood American Legion Auxiliary, serving as
president, secretary, treasurer and chaplain.
Also a member of the Steuben County American Legion Auxiliary she served as its
president, secretary and Chaplain.
Mrs. Dixon had work for the Westinghouse Company in Bath, and more recently had
worked in the cafeteria of Greenwood Central School.
Surviving: Three Sons: Lyle Dixon of Cameron, Wayne Dixon of Corning and Earl Dixon
serving with the U.S. Air Force stationed in Albuquerque, N. M.; four daughters, Mrs.
Billy Chitwood of Orlando, Fla., Mrs. Edward Dickerson, of Oswego, PA, Mrs. Margie Hall
of R. D. 1, Cameron and Mrs. Marie Burns of Olean; one brother, Lloyd Chaffee of
Greenwood; one uncle, Milton Chaffee of Canisteo; fourteen grandchildren.
Friends may call at the H.P. Smith and son Funeral Home in Canisteo today, from 7 to
9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
American Legion Auxiliary services will be held at the funeral home tonight at
7;30p.m. followed by an Order of the Eastern Star service at 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Monday at 2 p.m. with the Rev.
Gerald Welter of Hornell, formerly of Greenwood officiating.
Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.
