Kathleen, took your advice and have ordered the "BOOK" from
Higginson.com. Many
thanks. What's this, you have a ship's manifest? with dates? and you think this
was Thomas? Do you know ship's name? Thought I'd let you know I have contacted
Chaffcombe and the County of Somerset, where the parish exists. I gave them as much as I
know about Thomas but I what you and all of you to know, Thomas Chaffe was NOT here in
1635, he WAS here in 1637. Genealogists and others have ancestors from Hingham too that I
know around here and there is no other mention of Chaffe in 1635 in any other records,
esp. the series "The Great Migration" by Robert Charles Anderson. No Chaffe
1635. Definetely July 1637 receiving land grants from Hingham township for a house and
farm, indicating he did have "family". Bachelors received less land than did
family men. By the way, have another little tidbit for you: Nathaniel Chaffe, son of
Thomas, married Experience Bliss, daughter of Jonathan and RACHEL PUFFE!
R! NOT MIRIAM HARMON. According to the New England Historical & Genealogical Register,
VOL 151, pages 31-37. I know this because one of my associates that I know is related to
Rachel and had me read this article. This is on the up and up. Please e-mail me and let me
know if you have a ship's name or anything. Thanks alot. Take care.
