OLON S. CHAFFEE, Representative for Mansfield, Tolland County:
Of Mansfield, is a young man engaged in the business of manufacturing, in his native town.
He is said to inherit some of the temperament of his grandfather, Joseph Conant, who was
known as being connected with every enterprise in town, and was one of the first to begin
the manufacture of silk in this country. Mr. Chaffee was born in Mansfield, November 20,
1854, and received his early education in the schools of the town and at Fitch's
Norwalk school. He has been Chairman of the Town Committee since his majority, but has
avoided local offices. He is a Republican.
