Hello Maggi
I have found what looks like your family on the 1871 census as follows:
RG10/3997/86/35
17 Hill Street, Hulme, Manchester
William Chadwick, H, M, 56, cotton weaver, Eccles Lancs.
Ann Chadwick, wife, M, 46, cotton weaver's wife, Swinton Lancs
Joe Chadwick, son, 1, Manchester
Thomas Mann Procter, step-son, S, 18, cotton weaver, Manchester
Hannah Proctor, step-dau, 13, cotton winder, Manchester
Clare Procter, step-dau, 11, scholar, Manchester
To find the identity of Ann you will need to look for the marriage (sometime
in the late 1860s I would think) or obtain the birth certifivate of one of
her children, as she has clearly been married before.
Hope this helps

Subject: any help needed
hi,
I have a proverbial BRICK WALL with the following family, and wonder if
anyone else on the list has any links with them?
I have WILLIAM CHADWICK born 1814, in barton upon irwell lancashire, he
settled in the chorlton on medlock/hulme area of manchester and lived all
his life there working as a weaver, ontil his death in the 1800,s.
WILLIAM was the son of THOMAS and SARAH CHADWICK of barton upon irwell,
THOMAS was also a weaver. there are many gaps, such as WILLIAMS marriage
to ANN,ETC little else is known about THOMAS.
any help appreciated here.
regards maggi
