I've been searching for info on my GGGgrandfather, William Chadwick, who
lived in North Carolina in the early 1800's. I had found his son and
grandson in several censuses for Currituck county, NC, with various
spellings like Chaddick and Chaddic. Now I believe that I've found
William in Tyrrell County, NC. However, the spellings of his name are
Cradock, Craddick, Cradik, and Craddock in the various censuses. I had
not expected the "h" to be replaced with an "r". Has anyone else run
into this? Maybe it is just an idiosyncrasy of NC.
