Hello,
I just received a copy of an ancestor's memoir (Thomas W. Chadwick) and it
states that his parents were members of the Sands Street Church, in Brooklyn,
prior to his birth in 1817.
I believe, from family notes, that his father was Thomas Chadwick, and his
mother's first name was Keziah. Since the father died a few months prior to
Thomas W's birth, I suspect that Keziah may have remarried. It's also
possible that Keziah may have been Thomas' second wife.
So there could be a number of Chadwicks who attended this church during the
early and mid 1800s.
Bits I've found:
A Thomas Chadwick married Keziah Jones in 1811, in Monmouth Co, NJ. I don't
know if this is the couple or not.
A Keziah Chadwick married Henry H. Hills in 1826, in Brooklyn. I don't know
if this is the same Keziah.
The 1850 Census listing for Thomas W's family includes a Hannah Chadwick,
age 40. So Hannah was born ca 1810, a year prior to Thomas' marriage to Keziah
(if we take the Census information to be accurate).
I also wonder where an individual who was a member of the Sands Street
Church would have been buried in 1817. Any thoughts?
Thanks for any input, Sarah
