To subscribers of these two mailing Lists:
MEYORK-L geneal. mailing list <MEYORK-L(a)rootsweb.com>
and the Chadbourne-List <CHADBOURNE-L(a)rootsweb.com>
We've noticed recent references to the "Chadbourne book" -
on this York County List (above), so the following seems timely.
(It was in a Drafts folder since a query from MEYORK-L Moderator,
but I've been astonished since, at the high proportion of queries to
York Co. List which will benefit from looking at the Chadbourne CD.
(Corrections and additions to the 1994 book are currently found only
on the CD, but they are in the works for owners of the sold-out book,
as a supplement. (The website also lists libraries with our book.)
By carrying daughters of daughters of daughters for many generations,
Chadbourne Family publications include a significant portion of the
early families of Maine's early Kittery, especially towns later named the
BERWICKs. Note, for example, Generation FOUR on this website!
For the remainder of June, the password protection has been
removed from the first 6 gen.s of the CD found on the website!
(CFA membership - now free with the CD if ordered together -
will ensure continued use of this resource past June, 2002. That
is, the username + password keys will be known by members.)
Though the content and search capabilities of the newer CD-ROM
version are further advanced, you might FIRST search an alphabetical
"Book Index" of "The Chadbourne Family in America: A Genealogy"
at
http://www.chadbourne.org. All 26,101 York-County-and-beyond
names in the 1994 book (and more) are on the year 2000 CD (at
less than half the price of the sold-out book). More CD info.'s onsite.
(Chadbourne copyrights requires full attribution for material
used, but the reviews are freely available for re-distribution.)
Also at the website are REVIEWS of this widely-praised CD, from
"The Maine Genealogist" (by editor Joseph C.Anderson) and from
"Eastman's Online Genealogy Newsletter" (by editor Dick Eastman).
BONUS: The CFA website, under "Coming Events", now includes
upcoming PROGRAMS of the Old Berwick Historical Society,
thanks to our new CFA Webmaster, Herbie Geiler of Somersworth,
who's a Director of the OBHS and of the CFA.
Please consult the
http://www.chadbourne.org site yourself
rather than asking for look-ups. CD order info. is on the website.
Please AVOID FULL quotebacks if replying privately or on-List.
Many seem not to realize they can delete any or all in a Reply. Thanks!
