George F. Sanborn, Jr., Fellow in the Society of Genealogists (FASG),
CFA ex-President, a professional genealogist employed by NEHGS, will
continue in charge of the Chadbourne Family's ENGLISH RESEARCH,
including seeking the origin of these Chadbourne ancestors:
Elizabeth SPARRY (who married 1634 immigrant William Chadbourne 9
October 1609, and
Margaret DOOLEY, William's mother, who married Robert Chadbourne January
28, 1576/7 (old style/new style calendar)
- both marriages were in TAMWORTH, England (records of St. Editha Church
in Staffordshire).
One fascinating potential inquiry is to determine if the relationship,
if any, between our Chadbournes of Tamworth and those with very similar
first names in WINCHCOMBE an English town much further south.
We do have church baptism and marriage record for both towns as far back
as they go = not far enough?, but the CFA has not published those of
Winchcombe.
Any wishing to contribute knowledge, fact-gathering, tentative analysis
or $ may contact George or me, with contributions payable to the
Chadbourne Family Association. (Our gifts dedicated to English research
are nearly depleted.)
Ted Chadbourne, CFA President (until Oct. 20, 2002)
