Congratulations, Cynthia bunnydust(a)attbi.com !
Thanks for your fine service, Cynthia, (in your Saturday PM
post to this YORK County List) of sharing some repositories
and some explanations of the keeping of records early in this
district - always called Maine by our invaders from the east! *
* (My idea of historical justice, which likely even my grand-
children won't live to see, would be for this continent to be
invaded from the west by India ns, enabling them to drive
us palefaces east, where we could wind up in reservations!)
I'm one of those who think the convenience of
genealogy ONLINE is a struggle between good and bad,
in which the bad is in danger of driving out the good, as
"copyology" ("I got a hundred new ancestors today") is
so much easier than research and critical analysis. If one
hasn't a source, what have they got? (Think about it!) Hence,
assertions (naming one of the same name and place, about
the same time, if not accompanied by their source, cannot
be checked against something later that MAY be accurate.
In fact, there are many of us who reply only with those
List posters whom we can see capable of separating wheat
from chaff, often the same (few?) folks who include NAME,
REGION & TIMEFRAME in their "Subject:" message headers.
(I ask thousands of questions & make provocative assertions
mostly in the hope of better understanding what really was.)

highly praised (reviews on website) for early families of
Kittery/Berwick and surrounding areas of Maine and beyond.
NOTE: Replies to this message will hopefully DELETE part or all of any
automatic FULL quoteback - and certainly the Ancestry ad at the end.
(Don't worry about them. That ad will grow back in a microsecond.)
