New England Regional Genealogical Conference meets in Portland Maine March
21-April 3: At
http://www.nergc.org click on the icon: "NERGC 2005 PROGRAM
Brochure". (There will be about three parallel (SIMULTANEOUS) tracks of
lectures and/or workshops.
That website was provided NERGC by Dick "Eastman's Online Genealogy
Newsletter"
http://eogn.com/ a website ALL genealogists should visit,
leading to a free subscription, as superior as Cyndi's List of genealogy
websites <
http://www.cyndislist.com>.
The presenters in Portland, Maine, national leaders, are so outstanding that
it's a very worthwhile conference! (This is a great year* for socializing
while making large steps toward greater skill at the art and science of
learning whose genes you carry. Conference Chair is Melinde Sanborn, FASG
(= elected a Fellow in the American Society of Genealogists).
* Other fine casts of presenters will accompany you if you choose the format
of a CRUISE in June or November, 2005. Kitty and I look forward to seeing
you next month in Portland, or on the genealogy cruise in November. A
SEARCH of the Archives available at
http://www.eogn.com/search will produce
much other news of interest, and a chance to use SEARCH term "cruise".
This was shared by Ted Chadbourne of the Chadbourne Family Association
<
http://www.chadbourne.org> which website has an INDEX w/over 26,000 names
with Chadbourne connections, plus other good links including to the OLD
BERWICK Historical Society (in Maine). (To find that INDEX to the 1994 book
"Chadbourne Family in America: A Genealogy" one must scroll down the opening
page, since the contents window lacks its own scroll bar). Though that
heavily-sourced book is sold out, the website has a list of LIBRARIES which
have it. Though a major (over 400-page) 2004 supplement is not recommended
for those lacking the original book, both the book and print supplement are
available to members of NEHGS through their excellent LENDING LIBRARY.
(A Chadbourne Family CD-ROM produced in 2000, also described at
http://www.chadbourne.org, has many advantages over books.)
The website above has more info. and also details well-researched FEMALE
lines for the following generations: Chadbourne: 6; THOMAS SPENCER of Maine
& Patience 2 Chadbourne: 5 generations; their daughter Margaret (Ch3)
Spencer and her husband DANIEL GOODWIN of Old Kittery, Maine are carried 4
generations.
http://www.nehgs.org is a shortcut to New England Historic Genealogical
Society's longer
